Upcycled Snowboard Earrings
As some of you may know, I am part owner of a snowboard shop. My husband, Johnny, and I own Boardworks Tech Shop in Bellingham, WA.
We teamed up to create these earrings made out of broken snowboards. We see a lot of broken snowboards and we believe that no snowboard should end up in a landfill.
Johnny hand cut and sanded each piece to make sure the edges were smooth. I then marked where the holes would be drilled for the earring hardware. After the prep work, we sealed them with enamel so that the wood wouldn’t be able to take on any moisture. Next, I stylized and placed all of the hardware/beads/crystals on each set of earrings.
These earrings are super fun and unique! You can see all of the layers of the snowboard as well as the base layer. All of these earrings came from one very loved snowboard. We plan to make more of these in the future— it was awesome to create something together with my husband.
